about us

Everyone has a story they need to tell.

You know your story – that’s not the problem.

Getting your story known and shared among the digital crowds – that’s a different challenge.

Filtered Media is a professional storytelling business. We work with iconic brands, media companies and causes to tell their stories, brilliantly via production, communications and event services.

production

Tell your story with incisive interviews, multiple sources and industry-knowledge captured in multimedia. Our senior journalists, producers, researchers, animators, sound engineers and video crews tell compelling stories using digital video, audio or the written word.

communications

Leaders and culture shape your story, and so can the brave, new media world – communications is the cover-to-cover story. Our seasoned communications, public relations (PR) and executive coaching professionals handle everything from strategy, plans and media training, to mergers and acquisitions, re-branding and culture change, and good old media relations and social media engagement, of course, which we’re pretty darn good at if hard, cold facts and results data are anything to go by.

events

Every event tells a story. Our senior producers, project managers and event specialists collectively have experience in business, health, homewares, fashion, finance and technology to create compelling and relevant content for invitations, agendas, programs and post-event follow-up. We also handle event logistics so you can get on with your day job.

Filtered Media was founded and is run by respected journalist and former Australian Financial Review IT editor, Mark Jones and former Asia Pacific Communications Manager at IBM and Communications Director at Lenovo, Heather Jones, with their hand-picked team of storytellers. The full time team is profiled below – behind the scenes is a vast network of freelance copy writers, journalists, graphic designs, voice over artists,  videographers, photographers and any other form of storytelling expertise you need.

So, what’s your story? And how can we help you tell it? Contact us today.

belinda english

Senior Public Relations Manager, Belinda English, has over ten years experience working in consumer brand marketing, both in Sydney and London. Over the years Belinda has worked for leading luxury lifestyle brands like Elizabeth Arden, Emirates Airlines, David Jones, Louis Vuitton and Orient-Express Hotels. As well as the luxury goods sector, Belinda has worked on many of the supermarket brands we know and love, such as Oral-B, Olay and Gillette.

Belinda took time away from the PR industry to fulfil a life long ambition to be a chef.  She did a year long commercial cookery course before taking up a head chef post in a busy cafe in New Zealand. She describes it as the hardest job she’s ever done. So now, as a qualified chef and skilled Public Relations practitioner, Belinda gets the best of both worlds: leading the KitchenAid, Profiline and Vitamix PR teams at Filtered Media.

lisa mclean

Senior Public Relations Manager, Lisa McLean, is the driving force behind the extraordinary enthusiasm in the Australian and New Zealand media and online for Vitamix.  She tweets, emails, writes and chats passionately about how Vitamix fuels a healthy, fit lifestyle, having experienced it for herself – she now taps into years of PR and social media experience to share that story with others.

Lisa started her career with the Merivale Group of companies before joining a boutique PR agency focused on fashion, beauty and lifestyle clients. She earned her stripes in government and corporate PR consulting with the Australian Greenhouse Office on the annual Solar House Day in addition to their Sustainable Design Publications, and re-branding and promoting the Board of Architects NSW. She was also intimately involved in the growth and development of a successful online lounge-wear business and is actively engaged in various online community discussion groups around her interests in work, cooking, family and triathlons.   Vitamix is her focus and passion at Filtered Media.

kate elks

Production Manager, Kate Elks, joined Filtered Media in 2013 after a stint as entertainment editor and news journalist at APN News & Media. She looks a lot like Julianne Moore, we think. Prior to journalism, she worked as a researcher at iSentia (formerly Media Monitors) in Australia, and Kantar in the UK. She is thorough, likeable, efficient, loves process and gets excited learning something new.

As Production Manager, Kate supports Editorial Director Mark Jones to make our video and editorial-related projects come to life. Kate sources talent, coordinates video teams, manages logistics and oversees the production of Filtered Media’s production client stories. She holds an Arts degree with a major in Literature from Macquarie University, which explains why she often misses her train stop: ask what book she’s reading at the moment, she’ll always have an answer.

daniel marr

Video Designer, Daniel Marr creates, edits and produces video stories for Filtered Media clients including Telstra Enterprise & Government, The Sydney Morning Herald, NICTA, and eHealthspace.org.
